We got up early again. Quelle surprise! Went to the Capilano Suspension bridge. Basically, its just a bridge over a river gorge. But there’s something cool about seeing birds fly beneath you. There is also a very nice park connected to the bridge.

Our next stop was the Fort Langley Historical site, well worth the $4 admission fee.

They had live demonstrations and people in costume in every building. It was very engaging and interesting to talk to real people rather than just read signs. And everyone there was into what they were doing, which only helps engage your interest. We saw exactly how barrels were made in the cooperage and heard all about trading with Indians and miners. For example, those stripes on old timy blankets, they indicate the number of beaver pelts it was worth. Huh.

That afternoon, we reached the Okanagan Lake Valley, situated in the Cascades. The air was wonderfully warm and we had left behind all the rain back on the coast. And situated on the banks of the lake are many little wineries. One of the most interesting was Mission Hill, which looks like a Spanish Mission, except you know, in Canada. We also went to Slamka winery, where the owner took us into the field to eat grapes. Did I mention it just happened to be the fall Wine Harvest Festival. Well, it was. Good timing on our part.
