Alameda Art and Wine Festival
Ah, yeah verily, one of my favorite wine festivals and certainly one of my
favorite street fairs.
Although, Karen and I no longer live within walking distance (we had a
designated driver) the fair was still enjoyably close.
Arts and crafts and hey, now that we have a house all of those booths on home
improvement actually mean, bedazzlement of wow.
We sipped the wine. We strolled the street. We ate the calimari.
Lifeamgood.
Several years ago, Karen went to see the Lion King
and this time around, it was my chance.
I went with my mother, which was good, as she insisted on good seats rather
than my normal nose bleed.
Definitely a spectacle of motion and color.
Thanks to the cartoon, I was already familiar with the songs, but the visual
impact of the flowing lionesses and the dancing grass and the wildebeests in
their flood - stunning.
At several points, cast members came out into the audience, giving the feel
that the stage was the savannah in which our characters dwelt. On one occasion,
they stood with us on the balcony flying bird kites whirling over our heads.
Definitely a production to have good seats.
