We were comfy yet elegant in Thai silk outfits. Getting ready was so easy,
we were there a good 15 minutes before the first march. Gaskell's was wonderful.
The mood was just so light and happy. I really can't remember a Gaskell's that I
enjoyed more even though my calves were still aching from my bootcamp workout
and I didn't dance too much. The dances that I did have were delightful. When I
wasn't dancing, I had some great chats with people instead of sitting comatose
in a corner which happens all too often.
After a day of hiking, we had missed the beginning of the Oscar's, but our
super-smart Tivo saw that we had selected to record the show so it automatically
grabbed one of the pre-shows for us as well. Good Tivo. We got to ogle the
dresses, then fast forward through all of the boring bits of the actual awards
show. Due to these factors as well as Billy Crystal as host, it was one of the
best Oscar broadcasts I've seen in years. We laughed at the jokes, the musical
numbers, and the weird ass dress that Uma wore.
