I've been hearing about this event
for awhile, so in April I finally made the trip down to Palo Alto for an
evening of dancing at the YWCA. It was soooo worth it. The classes were
taught by Richard
Powers who is amazing. I learned cross-step waltz and felt incredibly
graceful and cool. The dancing after the lessons was also great. Where
else can you polka to They Might Be Giants? Or waltz to a song in the current
top 40? Persephone was a dj goddess, spinning old and new songs so we could
dance the night away. The atmosphere is casual, the people friendly, and
the dancing divine. I highly recommend checking out this event on a monthly
basis.

It
was really cool this month, even though Crystal was in South Dakota. High
points included a surprise visit from our friend Alex, several waltzes
with Kevin, and practicing the cross-step
waltz with Geri, also known as Jesus. Brassworks was excellent as always
and I received several compliments on my dress. What else is there really
to say about an evening of Victorian ballroom dancing? Get dressed up and
come on down. You won't regret it.
